Pregnancy
Pregnancy is meant to be one of the most magical times in a person’s life. However, for many it means pain, dysfunction and forced changes to activities of daily living. Studies have shown that up to 90% of women experience low back and/or pelvic pain during their pregnancies and most are told this is 'normal'. We are here to change that. Common is not normal!
Chiropractic care for pregnant women includes manual adjustments of the spine and pelvis, soft tissue massage/release, exercise and stretching recommendations and consistent, hands on care for expecting mothers.
Dr. Christie practices and is certified in the Webster technique. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment for the sacrum/pelvis. The goal is to restore proper bio mechanical function, reducing pain and dysfunction. This technique has been shown to be both safe and effective throughout pregnancy.

Infant and Child Care
The birthing process can be physically traumatic- for Mom and baby. Every force is equal and opposite therefore everything Mom’s body felt throughout delivery, the babies body felt as well. This can potentially lead to tension throughout the infants spine. Chiropractors can perform gentle adjustments to release those areas of tension, promoting spinal health.

Many midwives and lactation consultants recommend ‘body work’ if there has been a difficult birth, if baby has dealt with a tongue/lip tie resection, if baby is colicky or gassy and even to promote overall wellness. Chiropractors are a great option to perform this body work.

Chiropractors can also check for cranial symmetry. The bones of the skull are mobile in a baby to allow the head to fit through the birth canal. Head preferences, prolonged time on their backs and even tension in the neck can all lead to flattening of certain areas in the skull. Chiropractors can assess these issues and provide treatment and recommendations to restore symmetry.
Dr. Christie has done additional training in infant care and loves working with babies/children. Chiropractic care for infants involves gentle, sustained pressure adjustments targeted at areas of tension. If you were to press comfortably on your eyelid, that is the force being used on an infants’ spine. There are no big thrusts, twists or forces used on your little one! Care is gentle and relaxing; some babies sleep through care. And for those who don't, Dr. Christie will gladly bounce, rock and walk with your baby while performing care.
