An initial visit is typically 60 minutes in length. Your chiropractor will start by asking questions to form a complete health history and overall current health. They may ask questions about what brought you to the office, how your condition is affecting your day-to-day life, surgeries or traumas you may have had, medications you are taking, diet and exercise etc. It is a good idea to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. The chiropractor may perform tests like a blood pressure check, a test of your reflexes, strength and sensation, an analysis of your posture, orthopedic tests, an analysis of your movement and a hands on evaluation of how well your spine moves. Your chiropractor will then recommend a course of treatment specific to your condition. It should be a collaborative conversation on the best course of action for you. If they think your condition is better suited to treatment from another health care provider, they may make a referral. After the two of you decide on a treatment plan, the first visit usually includes treatment that may include spinal manipulation, soft tissue therapy, modalities and/or exercise recommendations.
Follow-up visits are typically 15 minutes in length. These visits start with a conversation of how your condition is progressing and how you are responding to treatment. Your chiropractor will then perform a quick assessment to find any restrictions as well as any tight/tender muscles. They will then perform the manual therapy that is outlined in your treatment plan. Nutritional counselling, recommendations for rehabilitation exercises as well as injury prevention may be provided at each visit.
According to the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, re-assessments must be performed AT LEAST every 24 visits. These visits are extremely important to ensure your care is meeting your needs and you are progressing appropriately. This appointment can be informal but should include some of the same testing that was done at your first appointment to show changes that chiropractic care has made to your condition. These appointments are like progress reports and should be a regular occurrence at your chiropractors office. Another opportunity for a re-assessment is if you have not been in the clinic for >6 months or are experiencing a new condition. In these cases it is always advised to allow your doctor to update your health records, perform an exam and update your treatment plan to ensure you are getting the best care possible.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on the body. It is used for pain relief and can be effective for low back pain, neck pain, headaches, osteoarthritis and chronic pain. Acupuncture may be combined with adjustments and other manual therapy depending on your specific treatment plan.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage
MLD is a gentle massage technique used to improve lymph flow. Our lymphatic system is a series of vessels that collects, cleans and disposes of swelling and waste fluid throughout the body. Collection starts in the smallest of these vessels which are located in the sin. The gentle skin focused MLD techniques stimulate the suctions mechanism of these vessels, allowing them to vacuum up excess fluid, shortening the healoing/recovery time. The rhythmic nature of this technique also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (relaxation and repair) helping to decrease anxiety and increase the immune system. This combination of effects makes MLD suitable for an endless list of ailments, including migraines, sinus issues, chronic illness and injury/surgeries.

Did you know that over 80% of all health conditions are directly related to being overweight? That number is staggering! Extra weight has a direct effect on biomechanical pain- that is pain in your spine, joints and muscles. We all know we have to be more active however when we are carrying that extra weight, exercise can be painful which decreases our motivation to want to move.
Dr. Knox introduced the ChiroThin weightloss program to our clinic at the end of 2020 after realizing the need for a doctor supervised program in our community. This program has been running since 2010 and its blend of amino acids and vitamin B12 has been deemed safe by Health Canada. The program itself is 6 weeks in length and the average weight loss goal is 20-25lbs in that time frame. The cost is $899 with additional supplements sold separately. Everything included is explained in the video below however Dr. Knox is also including weekly chiropractic visits for existing patients. As stated previously this is a doctor supervised program- there will be regular check-ins/weigh-ins as well as 4 weeks of monitoring after the 6 week program has ended. After this time frame you may choose to do another round which would cost $649 but include the same supplements and monitoring. Six people made it through the program back in December 2020 with an average weight loss of 26lbs and 24 inches.
Please take the time to watch the video below and if you are ready to take control of your health call the clinic to set up your consultation.
